- Oh darn. I fially understand some of the problems with Mand2000 and
- the '060. The problem is caused, indirectly albeit, by hackers and
- pirates.
-
- The initial problem is that Mand2000 makes use of instructions which
- don't exist on the '060. This causes poor performance and very jumpy
- mouse movement. CyberPatcher, by Phase 5, (and possibly other patch
- programs from other '060 board manufacturers) fixes this problem by
- physically replacing the instructions will instructions that do
- exist.
-
- This works great on the Mand2000 demo, but registered users
- reported problems with Mand2000 exiting after it finishes drawing
- the first image. Here's where the pirates come in. In order to
- slow down little morons with major ego problems who want to show
- how 'smart' they are by hacking out the Mand2000 registered user
- names, I checksum the Mand2000 executable every now and then.
- This allows me to detect any changes to the program. Unfortunately,
- this means that I detect the changes that CyberPatcher has made,
- and assume that an evil pirate is at work.
-
- If it weren't for those drains on society who love cracking programs,
- this problem would never have happened.
-
- Since it has, I have the following solution. I have a version of
- Mand2000 that does not do the checksumming. If you are a
- registered user of Mand2000, I can mail or e-mail you a copy of this,
- thus allowing CyberPatcher (or equivalent) to perform its magic.
- E-mailing will be free, mailing will cost $5.00 to cover our costs.
-
- I also hereby give permission to registered users of Mand2000 to
- acquire copies of the non-checksummed version from from friends
- who already have it - this does _not_ mean that it is freely
- distributable, this is _only_ for people who have purchased it.
-
- If you have not encountered this problem, ignore this message.
-
- I still may do an '060 friendly version of Mand2000, but don't
- count on it.
-
- Thanks to those who did testing for me.
